2017年5月30日,阿联酋航空(以下称 Emirates)发函内部电子邮件,为增开亚洲尤其是中华人民共和国的航班并因应“一个中国政策”,要求中华民国籍空服员执勤时,在围裙上移除中华民国国旗徽章并改配戴中华人民共和国国旗徽章,此举引发台湾空服员反弹。[38]对此,中华民国外交部训令驻迪拜办事处向Emirates总部抗议,随后,Emirates再表示先前决定是“不恰当”、“不正确”的,要求台湾空服员暂时移除国旗徽章,在下一步指示之前不需配戴任何徽章。并表示,现在空服员不管来自哪里都不需要配戴国旗徽章,但Emirates没有说明这是整个公司的制服政策改变,或是特别针对台湾空服员。31日,驻处代表前往Emirates总部交涉,表达严正立场;另在台北约见Emirates驻台办公室人员,了解本案经过,并表达不满与抗议。此事件中,有不少两岸网民在Emirates的Facebook粉丝专页上留下正反意见页面存档备份,存于互联网档案馆)。[39][40]

2018年6月8日,中华人民共和国民航局要求其他国家的航空公司不得将台湾列为国家,必须列为中国台湾以表示台湾是中华人民共和国的一部分。随后有十八家航空公司将台湾列为中华人民共和国的一部分(包括阿联酋航空,阿联酋航空将官网及机票上面飞往台湾航点将台湾列为中国台湾),引发台湾民航局不满并表示抗议,要求阿联酋航空不得将台湾列为中华人民共和国的一部分,必须更正为台湾,否则阿联酋航空必须停飞台湾[41]
